Mark J. Curley was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was admitted to the bar in Nebraska in 1993 and in South Dakota in 1994. His first position as an attorney was with Brown & Brown, P.C. in Omaha, Nebraska, where he was exposed to many areas of the law including litigation, real estate, immigration, corporate, tax, and estates and trusts. In 1999, he founded the Curley Immigration Law Office to devote his practice exclusively to immigration and naturalization cases.

In his free time, Mark and his spouse enjoy traveling, bicycling, and swimming.

Paralegal

Kathy Bass, paralegal, joined Curley Immigration Law in October 2016.  Kathy has a certificate in paralegal studies from Metro Community College.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in Modern Dance from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in Business Management from Bellevue University.  She has worked in arts administration with the Nebraska Arts Council, Omaha Performing Arts, Opera Omaha and the Omaha Theater Company.  She has experience with Information Technology as an Implementation Analyst and Client Services Manager.  Kathy enjoys volunteering with the League of Women Voters, practicing yoga, and gardening.

MIRANDA LOPEZ

Paralegal

Miranda has been a bilingual (English/Spanish) immigration paralegal for over 6 years with 5 years at Curley Immigration Law. She graduated from Midland University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, minoring in Human Services and completing teaching English as a Second Language courses.  Miranda had the opportunity to study for a semester in Granada, Spain.  She has also completed several interpreting courses at Metro Community College. 

 

Before joining Team Curley, Miranda worked for a non-profit organization serving local families with young children.  She has also been active in her community interpreting for parents and teachers at local schools and volunteering her time as an English teacher to Spanish-speaking adults.  As the spouse of an immigrant, Miranda understands that empathy and patience are important when assisting clients with their immigration journeys and educating them on their specific case processes.  Miranda specializes in waivers and consular processing and working with victims of crimes and domestic violence through U visas and VAWA petitions as well as special immigrant juvenile petitions.

 

Outside of the office, Miranda enjoys spending time with her husband and children as well as visiting extended family including visits to her family’s farm where she grew up in Northeast Nebraska.

YAZMIN VAZQUEZ

Legal Assistant

Yazmin Vazquez, has been a bilingual (English/Spanish) legal assistant with Curley Immigration Law since August 2021. She moved to Omaha in 2005. Before joining Curley Immigration, she worked in the HVAC Industry. Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with her husband and kids. She also likes to visit her family as often as she can back in Western Nebraska.

LORI CUNNINGHAM

Bookkeeper

Lori joined Curley Immigration Law as its bookkeeper in October 2017.  She has a Computerized Accounting Certificate from Pickens Tech in Aurora, CO.  She has taken several accounting courses from Aurora Community College.

She moved to Omaha in 2006.  Before joining Curley, she worked for Rochester Armored Car, supervising the Account Payable department. 

Outside of Curley, she enjoys doing taxes during tax season, spending time with family, friends and her goldendoodle.
